Website Of The Week: St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School

Published: September 6, 2013

CaptureToday’s Website Of The Week is one the Webanywhere team are particularly proud of. St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School, Birmingham’s website features a design that’s somewhat different to anything we’ve created in the past, with a charming, rustic, ‘textured’ theme that makes this school feel warm, familiar and friendly.

The school themselves have arranged the content in tidy, user-friendly sections which can be accessed via the menu on the left. One thing that stands out for us is the staff list, with profile pictures drawn by the children themselves. It fits perfectly with the style and feel of the website!
Overall, this is a beautiful website neatly arranged and not over-complicated with too much information – perfect for parents to access, and, with this being a School Jotter 2 website, simple for teachers to update quickly.

Website Of The Week: Nelson Mandela School

Published: August 30, 2013

Our first Website Of The Week for the new school year perfectly demonstrates how a school can get the full benefit from its website. Nelson Mandela School have been our most active School Jotter customer over the last few months, and this is obvious even by just clicking through a few of the many menu tabs!

Aside from the content required to be included according to DfE/Ofsted, the website is full of information that makes this a thoroughly insightful overview of life at Nelson Mandela School.
Our favourite area, which we definitely recommend visiting, is the What’s In The News section. This provides a great opportunity to teach children about current affairs, both inside and outside of school hours. We can imagine pupils and their parents following a page like this, and even contributing, as they do in their collaborative blog, linked to from the site.

Website Of The Week: Pye Bank CE Primary School

Published: July 26, 2013

Having worked with schools for almost ten years now, we here at Webanywhere are experts at creating website designs that schools love.

Take Pye Bank CE Primary School for example. The website for this Sheffield school is full of colour, with fun graphics making it stand out amongst their fellow Steel City schools. A fantastic selection of photographs throughout the site (they clearly have a member of staff very adept at using a camera!) help to promote Pye Bank as a school any parent should consider for their child.
As attracting parents of would-be pupils is as important as engaging with existing pupils’ parents, there is plenty of content that builds up a ‘story’ of Pye Bank. There’s a History Of Pye Bank section, and there’s information about a recent meeting regarding progress and attainment.
Plus, with all Ofsted/DfE-required content included too, this is a highly useful – and effective – website!

CaptureAt Webanywhere we’re lucky enough to have a team of designers and artists to create outstanding designs for school websites – and Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Sowerby Bridge is no exception.

The characters in the School Jotter 2 website’s header echo the feel and the content of the website itself – little children learning and playing, and even a representation of a familiar character!
The website includes pages like the School Bus section – a lovely page detailing the school bus service and where it picks children up from. The parish church also gets its own page and visitors can also see pictures of the Holy Communion.

Website Of The Week: Woodham Ley Primary School

Published: July 5, 2013

Many schools opt for professional photography to enhance their website, and Woodham Ley Primary School have used some great images to really bring their School Jotter website to life.

Captivating photographs of children playing, learning and general shots of the school itself also decorate the Essex school’s website elsewhere, from the Class Pages sections to the Learning Zone, which is a useful part of the website for pupils. It all gives the impression that this school is really all about the children – and this is backed up by the welcome message that also appears on the homepage.

Another feature that’s popular with many schools is the direct link to the school’s Learnanywhere VLE on the homepage. This encourages children and parents to use Learnanywhere more, and also informs new visitors to the site that this is a school completely in tune with new technologies for schools!

Website Of The Week: Birstwith CoE Primary School

Published: June 28, 2013

Although not quite finished yet, Birstwith C of E Primary School have made a brilliant start to their School Jotter 2 website. Using a bespoke design has given the school’s website a stylish, local feel: As you can see from the homepage header, this can only be a school in Yorkshire!

The Harrogate school have created a warm, welcoming homepage by including a welcome letter from the Headteacher. The menu is clear and simple enabling site visitors to find what they are looking for. The menu includes a page for each class, filled with images and videos of activities that have taken place throughout the year. A useful School Jotter tool used on their homepage is the scrolling marquee text to inform site visitors of important information – this is a popular feature for many schools and is easily updatable with new messages by even the least tech-savvy teacher.

With a page dedicated to the school’s newsletters, parents can be kept up to date with the latest news and events. Plus, with the School Updates app option, School Jotter 2 can send newsletters directly to parents’ smartphones. Once a newsletter is added to the website, School Jotter will automatically send a notification to every parent who has downloaded the app.
